This two articles shared two similar/main points and also two contrasting/main points. Both of this articles talked about our attitudes/ actions and how are being controlled by video games. The article by John Cramer said that "the findings follow a 2012 Darthmouth study that shows such video games may lead teens to drive recklessly and experience increases in automobile accidents, police stops, and a willingness to drunk and drive". While the other study by Mark Griffiths said "as well as many studies which reveal how playing video games can improve reaction times and hand eye coordination". The other main point that these two articles shared was that the video games are widely used and causes changes in the individual. The article "New Study: Video Games and Teen's Behavior" explained that 97% of the Americans play video games. Most of this people play 18+ games like GTA that causes high risk behavioral changes and this people tend to have violent behaviors.
The two articles also have 4 distinguished main point, 2 per article. The first main point about the article of John Cramer was that video games give us bad attitudes and experiences and he supported his point by showing studies that showed that teenagers tend to consume alcohol, smoke cigarettes, delinquency, and having risky sex. His second main point was that teenagers need to be careful with what they pretend to be. What he is meaning is that adolescents would like to be rich and famous just as they are in a game but they will steal or do it in an illegal way, so these people need to be aware of this problems. The other article also gave two interesting points. The first point was that video games stimulate our minds and give us skills, he prove it with some studies that said that video games improves spatial visualization ability and manipulating two and three dimensional objects. His second and last contrasting point was that video games are not only stimulating but also potentially useful in education. It can be weird because many people think that is only for entertainment but the author showed that video games are so engaging that they can stimulate learning, allows to experience novelty, curiosity and challenge. Video games also motivates, engages and provide rewards and reinforcement to improve. After this similar and contrasting points we can clearly identify that the article "New Study: Video Games and Teen's Behavior" is against video games and the article "Playing Video Games is Good For Your Brain" supports video games.
For concluding, video games is a topic of much relevancy and much discussion in the past years. It is relevant because many people consider them as a bad influence but others as an useful tool for your brain as the 2 articles above said. I agree the most with the article about the brain because in my case I think that I have really improve my reaction time and other parts of my brain, and I haven't had and I don't want to have experiences like aggressive attitudes, delinquency, and smoking cigarettes. Without having any proof I think that this attitudes depend more in each person and their parents personalities and attitudes over them because me and my friends haven't experienced some of this actions. So, in conclusion, I think that video games give us more positive than negative things and the negative things aren't only caused by video games but are caused by other factors like their family actions.
